Awakening Man: Integrating the Multidimensional Self
A Wim Hof Method, Movement, Sound and Breathwork Retreat

As the world around us evolves at a continually accelerating pace, many men have found themselves reeling as they try to find their place within their families, communities, and relationships. With a clear lack of direction, guidance, and role models in our upbringing and in the world around us, finding ourselves and showing up as the best version of ourselves while meeting life’s many obligations is increasingly challenging.

The goal of this retreat is to provide an opportunity for men to come together in a supportive environment to heal some of the patterns that prevent us from showing up fully, explore the many changing roles we experience over the course of our lives and integrate the many facets of our multidimensional nature, build resiliency, find clarity and return to our lives feeling inspired, grounded and focused like we never have before!!

This is a call to men to step up and do the work, talk the real talk, let go of the masks and break free from the conditioning that prevents us from living authentically and break the cycles of intergenerational trauma so we can step into life as the multidimensional man we were meant to be!! Over the three nights and four days of this retreat we will explore the following activities below. (All activities are optional)

  • Breathwork – Explore the multidimensional nature of your being through breathwork led by master breathwork facilitators. Breathwork practices provide an opportunity to release the aspects of ourselves we developed as coping and protection mechanisms or inherited in our ancestral lineage but no longer serve us in our present life. These powerful practices allow us to align to our authentic self and open to an expanded sense of being.

  • Movement – Open and align the body with a variety of movement practices intelligently sequenced with the other modalities presented to move and amplify the energetic shifts created over the course of the weekend. Jeff and Matthew will lead a variety of practices ranging from yoga to qigong to ecstatic dance or primal movement.

  • Resiliency Tools – Gain mastery over your nervous system through the practices of cold and heat exposure. The nervous system is the energetic system of our body. Expanding its capacity allows you to stay regulated and expansive in stressful situations, expand your energetic field, and enhance creativity.

  • Wim Hof Method – The three pillars of the method – Breath – Cold – Mindset – will be discussed and experienced over the course of the weekend. These are simple practices that are easy to integrate into our day to day lives and greatly improve not only our resiliency but our overall health as well.

  • Rewild In Nature – Enjoy the incredible natural surroundings of The Sentinel and remember that you are nature. We will dip in the wild waters of Kootenay Lake and may do a cold exposure hike depending on weather conditions.

  • Resonance Circle – Singing is about so much more than pitch, melody and “sounding good”. As men, we each carry a very strong purpose within us; a mission. By coming together in the creative capacity of singing, we embrace vulnerability by sharing the vibration of that mission without trying to explain it. By lending the power of our mission to a collective effort; to a song that only grows more impactful for each voice that is added, we not only cross the threshold of vulnerability but we also offer our vulnerability to a shared cause. In this resonance circle, we will offer our voices to the collective effort before joining together in group songs and chants that grow stronger the longer that we sing. We will lend our voices to the strengthening of our fellow men and learn some new tools for moving through vulnerability in an artistic and courageous way!

  • Story-telling Circle – Every moment is a thread woven in the tapestry of history. Each human being has within them, an epic tale of life and death, love and hate, war and peace, triumph and failure. If the truth of our own story were told in its greatest prose, the whole world would stop to listen. This offering is one that will ask you to acknowledge the themes and the meanings within your own life and weave them into a great tale worthy of being told by you, the story-teller! We will briefly discuss the components that make up an epic story and then dive into the investigation of our own pieces and characters before bringing our story to the hearts and minds of our brothers in this story-telling circle. Witnessed by the fire, we will be bonded in our witnessing of each others brilliance and pain and leave with a greater capacity to connect to the journey of men in this path of life!

  • Community – Coming together in community with others of like mind and vibration is perhaps one of the most potent and powerful aspects of these retreats. Entering a safe container where we can be seen, heard and held by our community allows us to heal our wounds and strengthen our confidence and authenticity to show up in the world as the one we came here to be.

  • There will also be ample time to simply be, enjoy the natural surroundings and interact with other guests as well as your facilitators in a non structured way.
