A Storytelling and musical evening, Kootenay Hygge-style

Hosted by The Sentinel Retreat and Between a Lake and a High Place Experiential Tourism in Kaslo, BC.

We know it’s getting chilly.  But do you remember all the best things in life when the days are cold and dark? Warm fire, soft light, candles, wool socks, blankets and throws, friends, good food, good drink, good music…and stories? The Danes certainly have winter figured out, and have embraced the cold, dark months by creating a lifestyle around cozy times with friends and family. In the Kootenays, we have our own brand of Hygge that helps brighten our dark months.

Join us for all things cozy and comfortable in an evening of Danish Hygge (pronounced hue-guh), at the stunning maloca at the Sentinel Retreat Centre. We are so excited to have  Shayna Jones and Dominique Fraissard joining us to share their talents in story and song with us for the evening!

Join us for a hearty meal ($10/person) and stay for an evening of cozy entertainment.  Suggested donations for performers welcomed and encouraged $15 – $25

Shayna Jones:
Shayna Jones, founder of We Are StoryFolk, is a professionally trained and passionate performing artist. With professional credits as an actor, singer, and dancer, she imbues her work as a Storyteller with craftsmanship and precision. She trained at Trinity Western University (Langley, BC),  apprenticed with Pacific Theatre (Vancouver), and has performed with the Arts Club Theatre Company, Stone’s Throw Productions, and the University of British Columbia to name a few. Shayna was the recipient of a “Jessie” for Outstanding Performance of an Actress at the Jessie Richardson Professional Theatre Awards ceremony in July of 2018. She calls Kaslo home with her family busy family…. Lucky us:)
Dominique Fraissard:
Dominique Fraissard hails from the mountains of Canada’s west and the long, hot highways of his native Australia. There is timelessness to his music. His 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars and a potent pen sing with an earthy lilt and an urban edge, from the good green earth of his 1970’s childhood, up through the concrete and steel built on top of it. Dominique is a multi-award nominated artist with 6 albums and several compilation album inclusions to his name. He has toured internationally and opened for the likes of Jack Johnson, The Waifs and the John Butler.  https://www.youtube.com/user/slocandom
